Hey, I am Kate,
Freelance Game Dev,
and passionate Gamer.

Ever since I was a child I wanted to program games for a living and so I focused ever since than to reach my goal - I learnt programming with the age of 13 and played around in Game engines.

I started my carreer with an german apprenticeship where I learnt programming - went to a specialized school, the Games Academy, where I studied Game Design and made the jump into the Gaming Industry.

Nowadays I am working as a freelancer with strong technical background to help gaming companies reach their goals. Either by porting existing games to consoles, implementing new features or polishing the existing game before release.

When I'm not working, I love working on my car, go on a walk - or driving - and of course playing games with my friends - Currently mostly Sea of Thieves and Forza Horizon 5.

About me

Get to know each others

Personally, I'm best described as a workaholic, deeply in love with my job, which constantly fuels my energy for it. I also value being reliable, organized, and always on time – qualities that I believe are characteristic of my German background. As the owner of the FuchsByte Media, my tech firm, I fully embrace this passion to help other game businesses with their games and work towards a strong future.

Outside of my work, I'm a passionate animal enthusiast, with a special place in my heart for foxes. I'm also looking forward to welcoming an Australian Shepherd into my life soon. Additionally, I have an absolute obsession with cars, particularly Audi. I love getting hands-on, working on my car, exploring the technology behind them, and simply driving to clear my head and gain new perspectives.

My Mission

What I am fighting for

My mission is to navigate a future path of entrepreneurial growth and personal fulfillment. I plan to build at least one successful company and explore the possibilities of expanding into different ventures, guided by leadership, responsibility, and efficiency.

Looking even further ahead, I aspire to reach a stage where I can explore the world more freely and step into an early, though certainly not idle, retirement.

However, this next phase won't be an end to ambition, but an evolution towards personal dreams, including the deeply personal goal of raising domesticated foxes and living somewhere fancy and quiet.

The fulfillment of my professional mission will enable me to fully embrace my passion for motorsports and tuning, applying the same drive for pushing limits and refining performance to this significant area of my life.

"The best way of learning about anything is by doing."

A question that many asked me.

Why I do this?

🎮
Why Gaming?
Because I love games—who doesn’t?

I grew up with a Nintendo DS, spent hours exploring Minecraft on my first Xbox 360, and felt like the happiest person alive when I finally got my first PC—diving into Rainbow Six Siege at the time.Ever since, I’ve wanted to understand how games are made.

That curiosity became my passion, and now, it’s what drives me every day.
📑
Why Freelancing?
Because I love the variety—freelancing lets me dive into more game projects and keeps things fresh.

I was never the type to work aimlessly for someone else my entire career. I always admired friends who took the leap into freelancing, embracing both the risks and the rewards.

So I took the chance—and I have no regrets.
💻
Why Programming?
Because it's like playing with LEGO—only on a grander, more intricate scale.

From the moment I discovered programming, I was captivated. The craft of designing small components and seamlessly weaving them into a larger creation—architecture in its purest form—has always fascinated me.

What began as a hobby evolved into a profession.

Principles

My Principles and What I stand for

Making it right
Solving problems the right way—stable, reliable, and built to last.

When tackling a task, I focus on creating solutions that stand the test of time—avoiding quick fixes that lead to instability and errors down the line.

Creating reliable and lasting solutions.

Communication
Project plans, progress tracking, and clear communication are essential.

I keep my clients informed with a dynamic project plan that updates in real-time, ensuring they always see the latest progress. Transparent time reports and productive communication are key to maintaining a smooth collaboration.

Clear communication is a key element.

AI Policy
A productivity boost—but nothing beyond that.

AI streamlines repetitive tasks and enhances auto-completion and consistency, but when it comes to code generation, I prefer a hands-on approach. Every line of code is mine, written with intent and precision.

I am a programmer, not an AI developer.

Adaptive Approach
Principles matter, but flexibility keeps projects moving.

Sometimes, a quick and pragmatic solution is exactly what's needed—I adjust accordingly. If a client prefers a different communication style, I adapt. If they specifically request an AI-assisted approach for efficiency, I provide it.

Flexibility is about meeting the unique demands of the project and the team.

Embrace the Challenge
If you don't know something—learn it.

There's no such thing as "I can't do that" or outright rejecting tasks. The key is honest communication—acknowledging what you don't know yet and embracing the process of researching and mastering it.

No one is born a specialist.
Learning is everything.

Passion First
At its core, it's always about the project.

Everyone in this industry is here because of a love for games. Yes, it's a product, a profession—but that doesn’t mean the passion fades. The process itself holds value, the creativity, the problem-solving, and the joy of building something players will experience.

What the game is—that's what matters.

Working with Katarina was an absolute pleasure. She approached the porting of three platforms simultaneously with remarkable focus, ownership, and technical skill. Even tasks outside of her direct responsibility were handled proactively and with care. She never waited to be asked, she simply got things done.

Throughout the process, she communicated clearly and regularly, managing everything independently while keeping the team in the loop. Her self-initiative, problem-solving mindset, and positive energy made the entire collaboration smooth and enjoyable. We'd be more than happy to work with her again.
